Description
K2 is suitable for children aged 6 years. At this stage, we will focus on building a solid foundation in Chinese and start to prepare students for P1. Students will learn phonics, spelling, and tones, and there will be a spelling test each week. They will begin to learn idioms, sentence patterns, measure words, tones and phonics of Chinese pinyin, and begin to learn short texts and simple reading. They will learn to answer reading comprehension questions, forming sentences, word choice and fill-in-the-blanks, and when to use the different punctuation marks, etc.

Teaching method
K2 is a crucial year to ensure a good transition into P1. It is important not only to establish a strong foundation in Chinese but also to learn more advanced concepts build upon that foundation. The complexity of learning Chinese pinyin will increase, requiring students to recognise, read, spell and pronounce Chinese Pinyin accurately, which presents a significant challenge. Students will also be introduced to spelling and various forms of exercises. This experience will enhance their understanding of context, helping them to develop correct problem-solving methods and good revision habits.
